Notre Dame is preparing for the BCS National Championship game on January 7, 2013. Notre Dame will play the Alabama Crimson Tide who enter the game with a 12-1 record. The Irish are the only undefeated team in the country entering the game at 12-0. Notre Dame leads the series against the two schools 5-1. Two of the six meetings cam in bowl games and the other four were regular season games. The Irish hope to add this game to their nation championship victories with their last championship in 1988 under Coach Lou Holtz.
