Notre Dame moves to the ACC

It was announced earlier today that the Big East and Notre Dame have settled on a deal which would allow the Irish to move to leave the Big East and join the Atlantic Coast Conference effective July 1, 2013. This deal comes after seven Catholic schools from the Big East announced they would leave the Big East July 1 of this year and retain the Big East Name. Notre Dame, effective July 1, 2013, will be a ACC member for all sports except football and hockey. ND hockey will compete in Hockey East Conference, and ND football will remain independent. Starting in fall of 2014 the Fighting Irish will play five ACC schools in football each year.
