Montpelier Accepted as Football Only Member in the TAAC

Montpelier local schools were voted in as a member of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference (TAAC) in a meeting Thursday night. The Locomotives come to the TAAC from the Northwest Ohio Athletic League (NWOAL). They will be a football only member with all other sports, except wrestling, competing in the Buckeye Boarder Conference (BBC). The BBC does not sponsor football or wrestling. Edon and Hilltop are also football only members in the TAAC with all other sports competing in the BBC. Montpelier will bring the football membership of the TAAC to 10. The 2014 football season marks the last in the NWOAL for the Locos. They will compete as an independent for the 2015 football season before entering the TAAC for the 2016 season. Montpelier will still compete in the NWOAL for wresting only

The goal for the TAAC to be split into East and West divisions. The East division would be composed of Edon, Hilltop, Montpelier, Toledo Christian, and Ottawa Hills. The West division would be composed of Cardinal Stritch, Northwood, Danbury, Gibsonburg, and Tiffin Calvert. Each team would play all the teams in their division plus three crossover games from the opposite division creating a 7 game conference schedule.
